Multi-agent debate over ConfigCat releases

AutoGen lets you set up specialized agents that discuss flag changes before executing them. A security agent can review a proposed change from `update_setting_value` while a product agent checks if the target segment is correct. They debate the risks of the release in a structured conversation. Once they reach a consensus, the executor agent runs `create_segment` to safely roll out the feature.

AutoGen safety checks for flag configurations

Prevent accidental production toggles by routing actions through a validator agent. When an agent wants to call `delete_environment` through this MCP Server, the validator agent checks the request against safety guidelines. This multi-agent verification acts as a guardrail. The tools are only invoked after the validator agent signs off on the safety of the proposed deletion.

Coordinate multi-environment flag setups

Use multiple agents to synchronize configurations across different regions using this MCP Server. One agent can query the staging environment using `get_environment`, while another prepares the production equivalent with `create_environment`. The agents exchange messages to ensure the settings match perfectly. This eliminates configuration drift by letting the agents double-check each other's work.

Setup guide

Set up ConfigCat MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes ConfigCat tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="ConfigCat_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent ConfigCat data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about ConfigCat MCP in AutoGen

Use `mcp_server_tools` to fetch the tools from the server. You then pass this tool list directly to your `AssistantAgent` constructor during setup.
Yes, you can set up a group chat where one agent lists configs using `list_configs` and another updates the values using `update_setting_value` after verifying staging.
If a tool like `create_setting` fails, the executor agent passes the error back to the group chat. The critic agent can then suggest fixes to the arguments.
Yes, you can connect this MCP Server using `StreamableHttpServerParams` to stream tool execution over HTTP. This keeps your agent conversations fast and responsive.
Environment IDs and config settings are only shared between your local agents during their conversation. The Vinkius MCP sandbox secures the underlying connection, ensuring your API credentials are never exposed to the LLM.
