Connect CrossRef Alternative MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect CrossRef Alternative to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Generate code from academic data
Ask Cline to build a component that displays an article's abstract and authors. It will use the `get_work` tool to fetch the metadata from this MCP Server, then write the actual React or Vue component code for you, complete with the data imported. Cline doesn't just show you the data, it builds with it. This means you go from a single DOI to a working UI component in one step. It understands the data structure and writes the code to match.
Script your data analysis
Tell Cline to write a Python script that finds all papers from a certain publisher published last year. It will use the `search_works` tool with the right filters, then generate the script to fetch the data and save it to a CSV file. You get a ready-to-run script for recurring tasks. It’s perfect for automating reports or tracking new publications without writing the boilerplate data-fetching code yourself.
Keep your project's data current
Point Cline to a file in your project containing a list of DOIs. You can instruct it to update the file with the latest citation counts for each paper. Cline uses the `get_works_by_doi_list` tool and edits the file directly. It's a practical way to keep your data-driven projects up to date. Cline reads the context of your code, fetches what's needed from the CrossRef Alternative server, and applies the changes, showing you the diff when it's done.
