Connect DataCite REST MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect DataCite REST to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build Components with Real DOI Data
Tell Cline: "Build a React component that displays the metadata for this DOI." It won't just give you a code snippet. Cline will use the `get_doi` tool to fetch live data from DataCite, write the component, and even import it into your project. This isn't a mock-up. You get a working component, connected to a real data source from this MCP Server, ready to commit. Cline handles fetching the data and writing the code that uses it, all from a single instruction.
Generate Reports and Stage Commits
This MCP Server lets Cline query usage reports and publication events. Ask it to "Generate a markdown report of all citations for our lab's DOIs this year and stage the file." It will find the relevant data and prepare it for review. Cline runs `list_dois` to get the identifiers, then queries `list_events` for citations. It then formats the output into a `.md` file and stages it with Git. It's a full task, from data fetching to version control, done for you.
Automate DOI Creation from VS Code
Connect your DataCite Member account to this server. Now you can tell Cline to register new DOIs for your datasets. Just point it to a metadata file and give it the instruction to create the record. Cline uses the `create_doi` tool to send the request, following the required JSON:API format. It’s faster than using a web UI and less error-prone than writing your own API scripts. You stay in your editor the whole time.
