How to Use the DataRobot MCP in Cursor
Inject live DataRobot model configurations directly into your codebase using Cursor Agent mode.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect DataRobot MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect DataRobot to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Query DataRobot deployments in Cursor
Fetching production endpoint URLs happens via `list_deployments`. Cursor reads this live state and writes the exact fetch requests needed to hit your API. Developers skip hunting for endpoint documentation because the AI already has the active routing details. Triggering `get_model` alongside it injects specific feature requirements for that deployment. Your agent writes payload validation logic based on the actual model schema. Code breaks less often when the editor knows exactly what the machine learning backend expects.
Sync ML projects via this MCP Server
Running `list_projects` gives Cursor the context of your entire AutoML workspace. The AI client maps out available predictive targets and generates the corresponding TypeScript interfaces automatically. Guessing data shapes ends here. Grabbing exact optimization metrics requires `get_project`. The agent writes conditional logic that only routes traffic to models that have finished building. Integration code becomes inherently aware of the ML pipeline state.
Generate data pipelines from live schemas
Executing `list_datasets` retrieves the raw schema of your training files. Cursor uses those column names to scaffold out SQLAlchemy models or Pydantic classes instantly. Boilerplate code disappears entirely. Following up with `list_models` reveals which algorithms won on that data. You ask the AI to document the exact XGBoost or Neural Network specs in your project README. Everything stays in sync with the actual DataRobot environment.
Set up DataRobot MCP in Cursor
Prerequisites
- Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
- Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Open MCP Settings
Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (
Cmd+Shift+P/Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server". - 2
Add the DataRobot MCP
Cursor will create or open
.cursor/mcp.jsonin your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. - 3
Enable Agent mode
Open Composer (
Cmd+I/Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode. - 4
Verify the connection
Ask Cursor something like "List my recent DataRobot transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the DataRobot tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.
