Transcribe and Generate Audio in Chat

Ask Claude to transcribe a meeting from a URL and it will use the `transcribe_url` tool to get the text. You can then ask it to summarize or pull out action items right there in the conversation. Need to generate an audio clip? Just feed Claude the text. It calls the `speak_text` tool and gives you back the audio. This is great for quickly prototyping voice responses or creating audio assets without writing any code.

Manage Your Deepgram Account with Claude

Your agent can now manage your Deepgram projects and API keys. You can have Claude `list_projects` to see what you're working on, or use `list_keys` and `create_key` to provision new credentials for a service on the fly. Keep an eye on your spending by asking Claude to `get_usage` or `get_balances`. You can also manage your team by having it `list_members` or `send_invite` to a new developer. It's all done through simple, plain-english requests.

Local or Cloud: Your MCP Server, Your Rules

Claude Desktop's unique setup lets you run this MCP Server locally for development or connect to a remote one for production. You get the same powerful Deepgram tools either way. This means you can test audio transcription against a local service, then switch to a shared server for team access. It's a single interface for your entire audio AI workflow.

Common questions about Deepgram MCP in Claude Desktop

You connect the Deepgram server to Claude Desktop, either locally or remotely. Then you can just ask Claude in plain English to do things like 'transcribe this audio file' or 'create a new API key'. Claude uses the server's tools to interact with the Deepgram API for you.
Yes, absolutely. The server includes tools like `create_key`, `delete_key`, and `list_keys`. You can tell Claude to create a key for a new project, and it will do it instantly.
With the Claude Desktop app, you can run the MCP server locally, giving it access to your machine. The web version at claude.ai requires connecting to a public server URL. Both let you use the same Deepgram tools in chat.
You can. Just ask Claude to get your current usage or balance. It uses the `get_usage` and `get_balances` tools to pull that data directly from your Deepgram account.
The server only handles the audio URLs you provide for transcription and the text you submit for speech generation. All communication with the Deepgram API is direct and encrypted. Vinkius never logs or stores your audio content or API keys.
