How to Use the Dog CEO MCP in Cline
Let Cline fetch dog images and breed lists to build pet-focused features directly inside VS Code.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Dog CEO MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Dog CEO to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Generate live pet galleries on the fly
The `get_random_dog_image` tool fetches a random dog photo URL to populate your front-end components within Cline. Cline reads your VS Code workspace, notices a broken placeholder, and calls this tool to patch the dog image source automatically. You don't have to search for stock dog photos or deal with broken links in your editor. The Cline agent handles the connection via our secure MCP gateway to fetch dog assets directly.
Seed databases using the Dog CEO MCP Server
The `list_dog_breeds` tool extracts a complete list of dog breeds to populate your backend schemas via Cline. Cline runs this tool, formats the output as SQL inserts, and updates your database files directly. This eliminates manual typing of dog breed taxonomies in VS Code. The Cline agent writes the database setup code and verifies the connection to the Dog CEO server.
Validate breed search inputs automatically
The `get_dog_by_breed` tool verifies that a specific breed exists by pulling a corresponding dog image inside Cline. Cline uses this tool to write integration tests for your pet search bar. The Cline agent writes the test suite, executes the breed query tool to get live mock data, and verifies your UI handles valid and invalid dog breed inputs correctly.
