Team-wide placeholder generation inside VS Code Copilot
The `generate_image` tool outputs standardized DummyImage URLs directly into your VS Code Copilot chat or inline edit sessions. By committing the configuration to your repository, your whole team can generate matching placeholders through Copilot. This prevents developers from using random, inconsistent placeholder services in their VS Code workspaces. Everyone on the team gets uniform, clean DummyImage layout blocks that match the project's design specs.
Fast component testing with this MCP Server
Calling `generate_image` allows VS Code Copilot to write self-contained UI components with working media tags. The Copilot agent generates the exact DummyImage URL needed to test image loading states and CSS object-fit properties. You can verify how your VS Code components handle different aspect ratios instantly. The DummyImage MCP server acts as a reliable utility during local development and team code reviews.
Automated visual testing for design systems
By executing the `generate_image` tool, your agent creates color-coded placeholders to help you verify theme matching inside VS Code Copilot. Your Copilot agent sets custom hex colors via DummyImage to match your dark or light mode variables. This ensures your VS Code mockups look cohesive before you commit to production assets. The Copilot agent handles the DummyImage color matching automatically based on your Tailwind or CSS variables.
