How to Use the ESPHome MCP in Cursor
Write code that actually controls your hardware. Cursor integrates ESPHome tools for real-time IoT interaction.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect ESPHome MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect ESPHome to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Cursor-integrated device automation
Inject live hardware control into your coding sessions. Your agent uses `fan_action` or `alarm_action` to test your automation scripts against real gear. Stop mocking your API responses. This MCP server lets you run tests against actual devices while you write the code in your editor.
Hardware metrics in your editor
Gather live telemetry with `get_metrics` to debug your logic as it runs. You get the raw data you need to fix your code immediately. Seeing the metrics inside your editor changes how you write logic for your sensors. You'll spot bugs in your threshold math before you even deploy.
Direct hardware state modification
Trigger `button_press` or `cover_action` directly from your chat sidebar. It's the most efficient way to verify your code's impact on your physical space. Your agent executes the action and reports back the result. You stay in the flow, coding and testing without switching contexts.
