Claude Code Powers Headless Crop Diagnostics

Claude Code executes terminal commands to run instant field health assessments starting with `get_fields`. The CLI agent queries this tool to locate your registered boundaries and pipes the coordinates directly into vegetation index queries. It retrieves crop vigor metrics by calling `get_ndvi` and `get_evi` directly from the shell. You receive raw statistical outputs, cloud cover percentages, and acquisition dates printed straight to your terminal stdout.

Command-Line Soil Moisture and Water Stress Audits

This MCP Server enables command-line audits of field water levels by calling `get_soil_moisture`. Claude Code queries this alongside `get_ndwi` to verify soil water content across different depths and crop canopies. The CLI agent processes these outputs to identify drought zones. It generates clean text reports showing soil moisture anomalies and water stress indices without needing a graphical web interface.

Automated Weather Pipelines and Crop Advisories

Claude Code builds agricultural automation scripts using meteorological parameters fetched via `get_weather`. The agent pulls historical data and combines it with predictive data from `get_weather_forecast` to track environmental conditions. It feeds these data points into `get_crop_advisory` to generate real-time field instructions. You can pipe this output directly into local cron jobs or shell scripts to automate daily farming alerts.

Setup guide

Set up Farmonaut MCP in Claude Code

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code CLI installed (npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Run the add command

Open your terminal and run the command shown on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. Use --scope user to make it available across all projects.

  2. 2

    Verify the connection

Start a Claude Code session and type /mcp to list connected servers. You should see farmonaut-mcp with a green status indicator.

  3. 3

    Start using tools

Ask Claude Code something like "Check my latest Farmonaut transactions." It will automatically discover and invoke the available Farmonaut tools.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http farmonaut-mcp https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp

Common questions about Farmonaut MCP in Claude Code

Run the command `claude mcp add --transport http farmonaut-mcp -- ` in your terminal. This adds the MCP Server to your ~/.claude.json configuration, giving the CLI agent immediate access to all agricultural tools.
Yes. You can register new boundaries by passing GeoJSON polygons directly to the CLI, which executes `add_field`. You can also list all active monitoring zones by running a quick query with `get_fields`.
If optical imagery is blocked, Claude Code calls `get_sar_analysis` to pull radar backscatter data. This lets the CLI agent analyze crop structures and estimate soil moisture levels even during heavy cloud cover.
The CLI agent calls `get_satellite_images` to fetch true-color and false-color composites along with raw spectral bands. It returns the download links and metadata directly to your terminal screen.
Your GeoJSON coordinates, field names, and crop types are kept secure. The MCP Server runs in a secure V8 isolate sandbox on Vinkius, ensuring your spatial data is processed ephemerally and never stored outside the Farmonaut API.
