Map Flickr photo pools into Google ADK pipelines

This MCP Server exposes `get_group_photos` as the core tool for pulling photo streams from active public groups directly into your Google ADK agent. Batching large photo streams becomes incredibly simple when pulling directly into your Google Cloud storage. Because Gemini models support massive token contexts, your agent can ingest metadata from hundreds of group photos at once. Feeding these raw image URLs straight into Vertex AI handles the heavy lifting without hitting context limits.

Cross-reference trending tags with BigQuery

The `get_hot_tags` tool retrieves the most active tags on Flickr right now, giving your agent instant access to real-time photography trends. Comparing these tags against historical search data in BigQuery takes only a few lines of code. This connection lets you build automated trend-tracking pipelines. After pulling the trending tags, your agent runs a query to update your marketing dashboards automatically.

Analyze user portfolios using this MCP Server

The `get_user_public_photos` tool extracts all public images uploaded by a specific Flickr user to help you analyze creator portfolios. Mapping this data helps identify visual styles or posting frequencies across a creator's library. By combining this tool with `get_user_info`, your Google ADK agent builds a complete profile of a creator's public presence. Targeting potential partners or curating high-quality visual assets is much easier with these insights.

Setup guide

Set up Flickr MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Flickr tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Flickr_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Flickr tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Flickr MCP in Google ADK

You initialize the toolset by passing the Vinkius HTTP URL into `McpToolset`. Then, pass that toolset object directly into your `LlmAgent` constructor.
Yes, your agent can run `search_photos` to locate public images. The agent handles the search parameters and returns the results as structured JSON.
The long-context capabilities of Gemini allow the agent to process large payloads from tools like `get_album_photos` without truncation. The raw metadata is parsed directly within the agent's context.
Yes, you can use the optional `tool_names` filter when setting up your toolset. This restricts the agent to only the specific tools you want it to use, like `get_photo_info`.
The server only reads public image metadata and public album structures. Your private Flickr photos remain completely inaccessible, and no transit data is logged or cached by the Vinkius sandbox.
