Pipeline compliance checks via MCP Server

Using `list_projects` and `list_revisions` inside Claude Code lets you script automated compliance checks in headless environments. This MCP Server lets you run automated checks in your CI/CD pipelines or local shell scripts. By integrating these tools, you can script your agent to block builds or trigger alerts when unexpected licenses are introduced to your repository.

Fast terminal-based dependency tracing

The `get_revision_dependencies` and `get_parent_projects` tools let your terminal agent trace deep dependency trees without a web browser. If a compliance issue is found, the agent traces it back to the root project. You get a clean terminal output showing the exact path of the problematic library.

Verify revisions and CVEs in your shell

Querying `check_vulnerabilities` and `get_revision` from Claude Code provides rapid security audits of your current release. Using this MCP server, Claude Code queries your active project state to scan for active CVEs. This terminal-first approach allows SREs and backend engineers to audit releases quickly during SSH sessions or local terminal workflows without opening a browser.

Common questions about FOSSA (License Compliance) MCP in Claude Code

Run the command `claude mcp add --transport http fossa-compliance ` in your terminal. Ensure all transport and scope flags are placed before the server name.
Yes. Because Claude Code is a terminal-only tool, you can pipe its output into other CLI tools or run it inside containerized environments to automate compliance gates.
No. The server requires an active internet connection to communicate with FOSSA's API endpoints via Vinkius, using tools like list_projects to fetch real-time compliance reports.
Run `claude mcp list` in your shell. You should see the server listed along with its registered tools, including check_vulnerabilities and get_revision.
The server only processes dependency metadata, revision hashes, and project names. Vinkius runs the server in an ephemeral sandbox, meaning your API tokens and scan results are never persisted or exposed.
