Build with Live Location Data

This server connects Cline directly to Geocodio's geocoding engine. Tell Cline to "create a React component that takes an address and displays its coordinates." It will use the `geocode_us_address` tool to fetch the data and write the component code for you, complete with state management for the API call. For bigger jobs, you can ask Cline to "process this array of customer addresses and add a lat/lon property to each." Cline will write the script, call the `batch_geocode_addresses` tool, and transform the data right in your editor. You see the diff and commit the result.

Enrich Data Models with Cline

Go beyond simple coordinates. You can tell Cline, "update my User model and add a function to fetch the user's congressional district." Cline will use `geocode_enriched_fields` to find the right data from Geocodio and write the method to populate your data model. This works in reverse, too. If your app deals with GPS data from mobile devices, you can have Cline build a feature that uses `reverse_enriched_fields` to find the school district or timezone for a given coordinate. Cline handles the API integration code, tests, and file creation.

The Geocodio MCP Server in Action

Imagine you have a CSV of properties. You can tell Cline: "Write a script to read 'properties.csv', geocode each address, and save the output to 'properties_geocoded.json'." Cline will generate the script using the `batch_geocode_addresses` tool from this MCP server. It doesn't stop there. You can follow up with, "Now, add the census tract to each property in that JSON file." Cline will understand the context and use `batch_enriched_geocode` to enrich the existing data. It's a full-cycle development partner for location-based features.

Common questions about Geocodio MCP in Cline

Open the file in VS Code and tell Cline, "Read this file, geocode every address using Geocodio, and create a new file with the results." Cline will write the code to parse the file and call the `batch_geocode_addresses` tool for you.
Yes. Instruct Cline to "fetch the congressional district for each user address and update the database." It will use tools like `geocode_enriched_fields` from the Geocodio server to get the data and then write the necessary database update script.
Simply ask Cline, "What data fields can I get from the Geocodio MCP Server?" It will execute the `list_schema_fields` tool and give you a clean list of all available enrichment fields, like census data, timezones, and more.
Definitely. You can tell Cline to "build a function that takes coordinates and returns a formatted address." It will write the code using the `reverse_geocode` tool for single lookups or `batch_reverse_pins` for multiple coordinates.
The address data is sent to the Geocodio server to perform the lookup. Each request on the Vinkius platform is isolated and runs in a sandboxed environment. The address information is not permanently stored or resold; it's only processed to return the geocoding data you asked for.
