How to Use the GitLab MCP in Windsurf
Stop switching tabs. Let Windsurf handle your GitLab project tracking and pipeline monitoring with direct agentic control.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect GitLab MCP to Windsurf
Create your Vinkius account to connect GitLab to Windsurf and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Automate project tracking in Windsurf
Cascade doesn't just read your issues; it manages them. When you point it at a repository, it uses `list_project_issues` to pull the latest backlog and then creates new tasks with `create_project_issue` based on your current code changes. You won't need to manually update statuses or move tickets. The agent handles the back-and-forth, keeping your project board synced with your actual work in Windsurf.
Monitor pipelines directly inside Windsurf
Stop checking the web UI to see if your build passed. Cascade executes `list_project_pipelines` to watch your CI/CD status and reports failures the moment they occur. If a build breaks, you can have the agent pull the logs using `get_repository_file` to diagnose the issue immediately. You stay in your editor, and the agent does the heavy lifting.
Navigate GitLab projects via Windsurf
Finding the right file in a massive codebase is a chore. Use `search_gitlab_global` to find specific code or `list_visible_projects` to jump between related repositories without ever leaving your workspace. Once you find the target, `get_project_details` gives you the context you need to start coding. Everything is indexed, searchable, and ready for Cascade to act on.
