Map silo layouts within Google ADK

`get_sensor_map` retrieves the exact physical coordinates and depths of every temperature sensor inside your storage units. Your Google ADK agent uses this layout to match raw heat readings to physical zones within the grain mass. Combining this map with `get_current_temperature` allows your Google ADK pipeline to pinpoint localized hot spots. This MCP Server integration turns raw sensor feeds into spatial data your agent can reason about.

Track humidity trends over time

`get_humidity_history` pulls time-series moisture data to help your agent identify moisture migration patterns. Your Google ADK workflow analyzes these historical shifts to predict condensation risks before water pools on the grain surface. By comparing these trends with `get_current_humidity`, the Google ADK agent confirms whether a wet spot is growing. This gives your team the data needed to run aeration fans only when necessary.

Run facility-wide checks with Google ADK

`get_facility_overview` delivers a high-level status summary of all monitored silos across your entire operation. Your Google ADK system reads this overview first to prioritize which silos require deeper analysis. If a silo shows a warning status, the Google ADK agent drills down using `get_hotspot_alerts` to find the exact sensor zone triggering the alarm. Using this MCP Server workflow keeps your massive storage operations organized.

Setup guide

Set up Grain Watch MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Grain Watch tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Grain Watch_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Grain Watch tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Grain Watch MCP in Google ADK

Use the `McpToolset` class with the Streamable HTTP parameters pointing to your Vinkius server URL. Pass this toolset directly to your `LlmAgent` to expose all 12 MCP tools to Gemini.
Yes. You can use the optional `tool_names` filter in the toolset configuration to expose only specific tools like temperature checks while hiding administrative tools.
The agent calls `get_hotspot_alerts` to fetch active critical and warning flags. It parses the temperature differential and sensor zone to decide whether to trigger a high-priority alert in your system.
Running `get_facility_overview` returns a structured list of all monitored units, showing overall temperature status and active alert counts for each silo in your system.
Vinkius processes all historical temperature and humidity logs in a secure, zero-trust sandbox. Your raw sensor data is transmitted via encrypted HTTP directly to your agent, leaving no persistent footprint on our servers.
