How to Use the Greptile MCP in Cursor
Let Cursor call Greptile tools to write code based on your actual repository context rather than generic training data.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Greptile MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect Greptile to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Context-aware code generation
The AI inside Cursor uses `query_with_context` to understand your existing architecture. It writes new code that actually matches your patterns. Stop fighting with hallucinations. The agent uses `search_by_filepath` to ensure the generated functions align with your imports and style.
Manage your codebase index
Use `index_repository` to prepare your project for the AI. The agent can then browse your repo structure without manual input. If you move files around, `reindex_repository` brings the index back in sync. It keeps the agent focused on your current logic.
Validate file metadata
Get details about specific files using `get_file_info`. It helps the agent decide if a file contains the logic needed for your current task. Use `get_repository_status` to see if your index is ready. It prevents the agent from guessing when the data is still being processed.
