Connect Hacker News MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Hacker News to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Pull top stories into Cline
Cline executes `top_stories` to grab the current tech pulse. It processes the list of IDs to identify what topics matter right now. You can ask Cline to build a summary of these links. It handles the API handshake and displays the output in your sidebar.
Access new submissions with Cline
The `new_stories` tool gives Cline a feed of the latest posts. Use this to keep your project updated with the absolute latest news. Cline fetches the raw IDs and sorts them for you. It turns a firehose of data into a manageable list of relevant links.
Parse comment trees using this MCP Server
When you need details, `get_item` retrieves the full text and comments of any story. It converts the format to Markdown for easy reading in VS Code. Cline uses this to read technical arguments or code snippets shared in threads. It extracts the value so you don't have to hunt for it.
