Terminal-driven deployment pipelines

The `list_deployments` tool fetches the current rollout queue directly into your CLI session. Claude Code uses this to monitor active migrations, piping the raw JSON status into other terminal utilities or scripts. The `promote_deployment` tool advances your canary releases once validation scripts pass. If metrics look bad, it triggers `fail_deployment` to revert changes immediately.

Headless cluster analysis via MCP Server

Running the `list_jobs` tool outputs a clean index of all running workloads in your namespace. Your agent uses this index to track down stale jobs and verify cluster hygiene during automated maintenance windows. The `get_job` tool pulls the raw configuration when a workload behaves unexpectedly. This mapping of task groups to physical hardware helps you spot drifting configurations without opening a heavy web UI.

Fast allocation diagnostics for SREs

Querying with the `get_allocation` tool retrieves the exact execution state, task events, and client IP of any running container. Claude Code queries this tool to debug crashing services right from your prompt. The `list_allocations` tool helps the agent identify which nodes are hosting failing tasks. It then queries `get_node` to check if the underlying host is suffering from resource exhaustion.

Setup guide

Set up HashiCorp Nomad MCP in Claude Code

Prerequisites

  • Claude Code CLI installed (npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Run the add command

Open your terminal and run the command shown on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com. Use --scope user to make it available across all projects.

  2. 2

    Verify the connection

Start a Claude Code session and type /mcp to list connected servers. You should see hashicorp-nomad-mcp with a green status indicator.

  3. 3

    Start using tools

Ask Claude Code something like "Check my latest HashiCorp Nomad transactions." It will automatically discover and invoke the available HashiCorp Nomad tools.

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http hashicorp-nomad-mcp https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp

Common questions about HashiCorp Nomad MCP in Claude Code

Run the `claude mcp add` command in your terminal, specifying the HTTP transport and your server URL. This registers the server in your local `~/.claude.json` configuration file.
Yes. Because Claude Code runs entirely in the terminal, you can script these tools to monitor deployments using `list_deployments` and promote them via `promote_deployment` automatically.
Your agent calls `list_allocations` to find tasks with unhealthy statuses, then uses `get_allocation` to inspect their exit codes. It analyzes these events instantly to tell you why a container crashed.
Yes. The tools interact with the Nomad HTTP API, respecting the namespace configurations and ACL tokens you pass through the environment variables or server configuration.
The server only reads and writes your job definitions, allocation variables, and node health statuses. Your Nomad ACL tokens are stored locally on your machine and injected at runtime. The Vinkius ephemeral sandbox guarantees that your cluster credentials and job specifications are never exposed or stored.
