Analyze Labor Costs at Scale

Pipe your workforce data directly into your Google Cloud environment. This MCP server lets your Gemini agent pull data from `list_timecards` and `list_labor_budgets` for every location you manage. You can then feed this data straight into BigQuery for deep analysis. Gemini's large context window means your agent can reason over months of scheduling and timecard data at once. Ask it to identify trends in overtime or compare labor efficiency across different departments returned by `list_departments`.

Manage Multi-Location Operations

This is built for businesses that are spread out. Your agent can call `list_locations` to get a complete roster of your sites, then iterate through them to perform actions like pulling staff lists with `list_employees` or checking schedules with `list_scheduled_shifts`. Because the Google ADK is designed for enterprise use, your agent can handle this scale without breaking a sweat. It can aggregate data from dozens of locations into a single report, giving you a top-down view of your entire operation.

Your Google ADK-Ready MCP Server

Connecting Google's agent framework is straightforward. You wrap the server URL in the `McpToolset` and pass it to your agent. All ten Homebase tools become available instantly, ready for your agent to use. Your agent can start by checking its own permissions with `get_api_profile` and then get to work. This setup gives you a powerful, scalable way to bridge your Google Cloud infrastructure with your real-world workforce management.

Setup guide

Set up Homebase MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Homebase tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Homebase_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Homebase tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Homebase MCP in Google ADK

You'll use the `McpToolset` class from the Google ADK library. Just provide your Vinkius server URL to its `StreamableHttpServerParameters`. Then, add the toolset to your agent's configuration.
Absolutely. That's a core use case. Your agent can periodically call `get_active_clock_ins` and `list_timecards` for each location, then push that data to a BigQuery table or a Google Sheet that powers your dashboard.
When you configure the `McpToolset`, you can use the `tool_names` filter. This lets you provide a list of specific tools you want to expose, like only allowing `list_scheduled_shifts` and `list_employees` while blocking others.
This MCP server provides read-only access to scheduling data via `list_scheduled_shifts`. Your agent can analyze existing schedules and suggest changes, but it can't write new schedules back to Homebase with these tools.
Yes. The server accesses employee PII, shift schedules, and clock-in data. Your connection is authenticated via a single Vinkius token, and the server runs in a zero-trust, ephemeral environment. All data access is further governed by your own Google Cloud IAM policies.
