Code Components with Live Data
Give Cline a prompt like, "Build a React component that shows completion times for 'Elden Ring'." Cline gets to work, using the `search_game_times` tool to fetch the real numbers from the HowLongToBeat MCP server. It doesn't just give you the data; it writes the code. Cline will generate the JSX, handle the state, and show you a diff of the new component, all wired up with actual gameplay hours.
Generate Seed Data for Your App
Stop using placeholder data. Tell Cline, "Create a JSON seed file with the main story hours for the top 10 Switch games." It will figure out the games, then call `search_game_times` for each one. Your agent scripts the entire process, outputting a perfectly formatted seed file you can drop right into your project. This is great for populating a new database or building a realistic demo.
Write and Run Data-Driven Tests
You can have Cline write a test that confirms your UI correctly displays data from an external source. For example: "Write a test that calls `search_game_times` for 'Hades' and asserts the component shows the correct hours." Cline will write the test file, mock the MCP call if needed, and run it. This ensures your code can handle the real data structure returned by the HowLongToBeat tool, not just a hardcoded example.
