How to Use the IBM watsonx MCP in Cursor
Build code that uses IBM watsonx models and embeddings directly inside your Cursor editor.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect IBM watsonx MCP to Cursor
Create your Vinkius account to connect IBM watsonx to Cursor and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Generate embeddings inside your Cursor editor
The `generate_embeddings` tool lets Cursor create vector representations of your codebase on the fly. You don't have to write custom python scripts just to test how your text chunks embed. Having this capability inside your editor means you can build semantic search features faster. Cursor calls the tool, receives the vectors, and injects them straight into your active code file.
Run multi-turn chat models while you code
Using the `generate_chat` tool, Cursor pulls conversational responses directly from your IBM cloud setup. This lets the editor's agent mode test chat flows using live model responses instead of mock data. If you need to switch models, the `list_models` tool displays what's active in your account. You can swap targets without leaving your cursor-agent workflow.
Manage prompt templates with this MCP Server
Keeping your prompt files in sync with your cloud environment is simple when Cursor uses the `list_prompts` tool. You pull the latest templates from your IBM project straight into your editor sidebar. When you modify a prompt locally, the `create_prompt` tool pushes the updated version back to your account. This prevents version drift between your local codebase and your cloud templates.
