Visualizing BigQuery Data with Google ADK

The ImageCharts MCP Server lets your Google ADK agents pull structured data from BigQuery and instantly output a visual representation. Your Gemini models can process millions of log rows and then call `generate_bar_chart` or `generate_line_chart` to summarize the results. You do not need to write custom Python visualization scripts inside your Google Cloud Functions. The Google ADK agent handles the data transformation, mapping raw SQL query results directly to the chart parameters. This allows enterprise users to get clear, digestible charts directly inside their Gemini-powered workspace apps.

Complex Multi-Variable Enterprise Charts

This rendering MCP Server lets your Google ADK agent combine multiple cloud data sources and render them using `generate_scatter_plot` or `generate_bubble_chart`. The long-context window of Gemini ensures the agent retains complex relationships before plotting. Your enterprise workflows benefit from highly detailed visual summaries generated directly from Vertex AI pipelines. The Google ADK agent builds the required query parameters and returns a clean, hosted image link. This approach keeps your cloud applications lightweight while delivering rich visualization capabilities.

Native Distribution and Access Tools

Generating physical assets from cloud reports is handled directly by the `generate_qr_code` tool inside your Google ADK pipelines. This lets you bridge digital Gemini reports with physical logistics workflows. Your enterprise agents can output scannable codes alongside multi-dimensional comparisons using `generate_radar_chart` or `generate_polar_area_chart`. The Google ADK framework selects the best layout based on the structure of the incoming BigQuery dataset. The MCP Server handles the conversion, ensuring your Gemini-generated reports are immediately actionable.

Setup guide

Set up ImageCharts MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with ImageCharts tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="ImageCharts_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to ImageCharts tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about ImageCharts MCP in Google ADK

Use the toolset class with the server URL provided by Vinkius. Pass this toolset into your Google ADK LlmAgent tools array to expose tools like `generate_doughnut_chart` to Gemini.
Yes. You can use the optional tool names filter in your Google ADK toolset configuration to expose only specific tools, like limiting the agent to `generate_pie_chart` and blocking others.
Absolutely. Gemini can analyze massive datasets in its context window and then call the ImageCharts MCP Server tools like `generate_venn_diagram` to summarize those findings visually.
The integration supports both Stdio and HTTP transports. For cloud-deployed enterprise agents, running over the Vinkius-hosted HTTP transport is the most reliable option.
The chart data parameters are transmitted securely via TLS encryption directly to the rendering API. The generated images are ephemeral, meaning your underlying database records are never cached or stored by the rendering service.
