Code with Real Customer Context

The `get_contact_details` tool pulls live customer records directly into your Cursor composer or chat window. This lets you write code or debug issues using actual user profiles instead of fake test data. If you need to find a specific developer account, use `search_contacts` to filter by custom attributes. Your Cursor agent can immediately write integration tests using these exact payloads.

Debug Support Tickets with the Cursor MCP Server

This Cursor integration relies on `list_conversations` to pull recent bug reports straight from your queue. You do not have to copy and paste stack traces from a browser window anymore. Once you fix the bug in your editor, write a message and use `reply_to_conversation` to tell the customer the fix is live. This closes the loop between writing code and helping users.

Manage Workspace Metadata

The `list_data_attributes` tool exposes your entire Intercom schema to the Cursor agent. This prevents syntax errors when writing code that syncs user databases with customer profiles. You can also call `list_admins` to see who should receive technical alerts or ownership handoffs. It keeps your team aligned without leaving your editor.

Setup guide

Set up Intercom MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Intercom MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Intercom transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Intercom tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Intercom MCP in Cursor

Create a `.cursor/mcp.json` file in your project root and add the MCP configuration under the `mcpServers` object. Once saved, enable Agent mode in your Cursor chat to start invoking tools.
Yes, the agent can call `create_conversation` to start new threads with users. This is helpful for automated alerts or proactive developer outreach during debugging.
Absolutely. The `list_data_attributes` tool reads all custom fields defined in your workspace, allowing Cursor to update or query them accurately.
You do not expose raw keys to the editor. Vinkius manages your credentials securely, and your local Cursor client only needs a single endpoint token to authenticate.
Your contact records are fetched on-demand through an ephemeral MCP connection. Vinkius never stores your customer emails, names, or chat logs on persistent disks.
