How to Use the Kitsu MCP in Cline
Let Cline build anime dashboards and manage your Kitsu library entries directly from your VS Code terminal.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Kitsu MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect Kitsu to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Build Live Kitsu Interfaces with Cline
The `list_library_entries` tool fetches your entire anime and manga list, including ratings and progress. Cline uses this tool to import raw JSON data directly into your local React or Vue components during development. Instead of writing mock data, you tell Cline to build a custom dashboard using your real library. The agent calls the MCP Server, parses the response, and writes the frontend code to display your active watch list.
Fetch Anime Details for Code Generation
The `get_anime` tool retrieves deep metadata for any single anime, including episode lengths, ratings, and studio info. Cline calls this tool when you ask it to generate specific content pages or populate database tables. For print media, the `get_manga` tool pulls volume details, chapters, and serialization status. Cline uses these details to structure your local backend schemas or write test cases based on real Kitsu data.
Update Your Tracking Lists via Cline
The `update_library_entry` tool edits your active watch status and episode progress on Kitsu. Cline runs this tool directly over MCP when you finish a coding session and want to log your latest anime episode. If you want to start tracking a new series, Cline uses `create_library_entry` to initialize it on your profile. You do not need to open a browser; the agent handles the state transition and updates your list in one step.
