How to Use the Klipfolio MCP in CrewAI
Deploy autonomous multi-agent crews to monitor and manage your Klipfolio dashboards using CrewAI.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Klipfolio MCP to CrewAI
Create your Vinkius account to connect Klipfolio to CrewAI and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Assign agents to Klipfolio monitoring.
A single agent gets overwhelmed tracking dozens of client accounts. CrewAI lets you build a specialized team instead. You assign a monitoring agent to run `list_dashboards` and check for stale metrics across the entire platform. When the monitor finds an outdated board, it passes the context to an action agent. This second agent executes `refresh_data_source` to update the backend. They share memory, so the action agent knows exactly which ID needs the push.
Analyze dashboard components autonomously.
Sometimes you need to know exactly what charts are broken before pitching a client. A research agent can trigger `get_dashboard_details` to map the exact configuration of a specific view. It reads the JSON and identifies the failing widgets. A separate analyst agent takes that data and digs deeper. It runs `list_individual_klips` to verify the underlying definitions of those broken charts. The crew handles this entire diagnostic process without any human intervention.
Filter CrewAI MCP Server tools.
You do not want every agent having write access to your analytics platform. CrewAI lets you restrict permissions using the tool_filter parameter. Your reporting agent only gets access to `list_account_clients` and `list_data_sources` to prevent accidental updates. Meanwhile, your admin agent gets full access to the MCP Server. It can trigger data refreshes while the rest of the crew strictly reads information. This hierarchical execution keeps your operations secure and predictable.
Set up Klipfolio MCP in CrewAI
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewaipackage (pip install crewai) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install CrewAI
Run
pip install crewaito install the framework. MCP support is built-in via themcpsparameter. - 2
Add the MCP URL to your agent
Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the
mcpslist. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically. - 3
Kick off your crew
Create a
Crewwith your agent and tasks. Callcrew.kickoff()— the agent will automatically invoke Klipfolio tools as needed.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
agent = Agent(
role="Klipfolio Analyst",
goal="Access and analyze Klipfolio data via MCP.",
backstory="Expert analyst with direct Klipfolio access.",
mcps=[
"https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
],
)
task = Task(
description="List recent Klipfolio transactions",
agent=agent,
expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)
crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result) Prerequisites

-
crewai+crewai-toolspackages - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install dependencies
Run
pip install crewai crewai-tools. TheMCPServerAdapterhandles lifecycle management and tool conversion. - 2
Connect with MCPServerAdapter
Use
MCPServerAdapteras a context manager withSseServerParameterspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. The adapter automatically manages connection lifecycle. - 3
Assign tools and run
Pass the returned
mcp_toolsto your agent'stoolsparameter. The adapter converts MCP tools to nativeBaseToolobjects compatible with all CrewAI agents.
