How to Use the LangSmith MCP in Cline
Give Cline direct access to the LangSmith MCP Server so it can hunt down failing LLM traces and write the fix inside VS Code.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect LangSmith MCP to Cline
Create your Vinkius account to connect LangSmith to Cline and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Pull Project Metrics into VS Code
The `langsmith_list_projects` tool exposes your entire observability stack to your local agent. Cline uses this to fetch run counts, median latency, and user feedback scores across your environments. You tell Cline to audit your LLM performance. It grabs the project data, identifies the deployment with the worst latency, and drafts a markdown report with the exact metrics right in your workspace.
Audit Recent Executions Automatically
The `langsmith_list_runs` tool lets Cline pull execution logs for any specific project. It retrieves run types, success statuses, token consumption, and execution timing. Just ask Cline to investigate when a user reports a weird AI response. The agent queries the recent runs, finds the specific execution that hallucinated, and shows you the exact prompt sequence that triggered it.
Fix Broken MCP Server Traces Fast
The `langsmith_get_run` tool retrieves the raw data of a single execution using its trace ID. Cline reads the granular inputs, outputs, and chain logic of that exact moment in time. This is where end-to-end execution shines. The agent reads the broken trace, identifies the malformed JSON output from your model, and immediately edits your parsing logic in VS Code to handle the edge case.
