Enterprise geocoding with Google ADK

The `search` tool translates bulk address records from your BigQuery tables into coordinates using Gemini's massive context window. Your Google ADK agent processes thousands of raw text rows in a single prompt, calling this tool to resolve locations with high precision. If coordinates are already stored, the `reverse` tool converts them back to physical street addresses for database normalization. This MCP server integrates directly with your Google Cloud pipeline, letting you clean legacy spatial data without manual scripting.

High-context routing and nearby analysis

The `directions` tool calculates routes, distances, and travel durations across complex multi-stop delivery runs. Gemini uses these metrics to plan logistics schedules, analyzing the spatial outputs alongside your Google ADK agent data. To find local resources, the `nearby` tool scans for points of interest around your fleet coordinates. The ADK handles the transport layer, letting your Gemini agent search for nearby fueling stations or maintenance bays on the fly.

Visual mapping and timezone validation

The `static_map` tool generates map images for specific coordinates, allowing your Google ADK agent to attach visual proof to enterprise reports. Your Gemini agent can write these map URLs directly to Cloud Storage or embed them in automated client emails. The `timezone` tool determines local time offsets for any coordinate, preventing scheduling conflicts across different regions. For fast input, the `autocomplete` tool resolves partial text queries, giving your Gemini agent quick access to clean geographic inputs.

Setup guide

Set up LocationIQ MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with LocationIQ tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="LocationIQ_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to LocationIQ tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about LocationIQ MCP in Google ADK

You initialize the `McpToolset` with the server URL and pass it to your Google ADK agent tools list. Gemini automatically discovers the seven spatial tools and invokes them when processing location queries.
Yes, your Google ADK agent can read coordinates from BigQuery and feed them directly into the `reverse` or `timezone` tools. This makes it easy to enrich your existing database records with real-time spatial details.
Gemini's long-context window allows your Google ADK agent to analyze hundreds of coordinates at once, calling `directions` or `nearby` sequentially to build complex routing tables without losing track of the conversation.
The ADK supports both Stdio and HTTP transport layers. For most production setups on Google Cloud, you will use the HTTP transport to connect to the hosted Vinkius MCP endpoint securely.
Your address text and routing coordinates are transmitted securely over HTTPS to the LocationIQ API via the Vinkius gateway. No spatial data is cached on disk, ensuring your enterprise logistics pipeline remains compliant with strict data policies.
