Coordinate Multi-Agent Email Testing in AutoGen using MCP Server

Testing complex flows like password resets requires multiple perspectives. One AutoGen agent can trigger the reset request while another monitors the inbox using `list_inbox_messages`. They coordinate the handoff. Once the email arrives, the monitoring agent calls `get_plain_text_body` to extract the reset link and passes it back to the first agent to complete the loop.

Debate and Verify Email Deliverability

Did the email fail to send, or is it just delayed? Your agents can debate this by checking the inbox status with `list_reserved_addresses` and searching across the account via `search_account_messages`. The QA agent might argue the test failed, while the infrastructure agent checks if the custom domain listed in `list_custom_domains` has routing issues. They negotiate the final test status before reporting.

Automate Address Lifecycle in AutoGen

Leaving active test addresses open invites spam and wastes resources. This MCP Server allows your coordinator agent to manage the lifecycle of your test endpoints. The agent can call `reserve_new_address` to start a run and immediately execute `release_reserved_address` once the consensus is reached. This keeps your test runs clean and isolated.

Setup guide

Set up Mailsac MCP in AutoGen

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • autogen-ext[mcp] package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install AutoGen with MCP

    Run pip install "autogen-ext[mcp]" autogen-agentchat. The MCP extension includes mcp_server_tools for stateless tool access.

  2. 2

    Fetch tools from the MCP

    Call mcp_server_tools(SseServerParams(url=...)) with your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Run your agent

    Pass the tools to AssistantAgent and call agent.run(). The agent invokes Mailsac tools and returns structured results.

agent.py
from autogen_ext.tools.mcp import SseServerParams, mcp_server_tools
from autogen_agentchat.agents import AssistantAgent
from autogen_ext.models.openai import OpenAIChatCompletionClient

server_params = SseServerParams(
    url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)

tools = await mcp_server_tools(server_params)

agent = AssistantAgent(
    name="Mailsac_assistant",
    model_client=OpenAIChatCompletionClient(model="gpt-4o"),
    tools=tools,
)

result = await agent.run("List recent Mailsac data")
print(result.messages[-1].content)

Common questions about Mailsac MCP in AutoGen

Use `mcp_server_tools` with your Vinkius Streamable HTTP URL to fetch the tool definitions. You can then pass this tools list directly into your `AssistantAgent` constructor.
Yes, the agents share the toolset. One agent can call `list_inbox_messages` while another uses `get_html_message_body` to parse the content of a specific message.
Your agents can negotiate a retry strategy. They can loop and call `list_inbox_messages` at intervals before deciding whether to fail the test run.
Yes, calling `search_account_messages` requires a paid tier. For free tiers, your agents should query specific inboxes directly using `list_inbox_messages`.
The MCP server runs in a zero-trust, ephemeral sandbox on Vinkius. Your agents can run `delete_inbox_message` to purge sensitive emails from the inbox immediately after reading them.
