Dump thousands of issues into your MCP Server

The `list_comics` tool filters Marvel's catalog by character ID or title. Your Google ADK agent pulls arrays of issue numbers, formats, and publication dates. Because Gemini handles massive context windows, you can paginate through hundreds of results without dropping data. For deep metadata, `get_comic` retrieves prices, descriptions, and full creator lists. You can pipe these JSON responses directly into BigQuery for historical analysis. The agent handles the tool execution natively through the HTTP transport layer.

Map crossover arcs across Earth-616

Call `list_events` to find the exact ID for major storylines. Your agent then triggers `get_event` to extract the start dates, end dates, and the total number of involved comics. This builds the foundational timeline for your queries. Linking those events to specific heroes happens via `get_character`. This returns the character's description, thumbnail URL, and a list of every event they appeared in. The agent cross-references these lists instantly.

Track creator runs and series publication dates

Use `list_creators` to search by name prefix and grab the numeric ID. The agent then runs `get_creator` to pull their full name, primary role, and every series they ever touched. To get the actual book details, `list_series` searches by title to find ongoing runs. Then `get_series` pulls the start and end years, plus the total issue count. You can restrict which of these tools the agent sees using the tool_names filter in your setup.

Setup guide

Set up Marvel Comics MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with Marvel Comics tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="Marvel Comics_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to Marvel Comics tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about Marvel Comics MCP in Google ADK

Install google-adk and set up a McpToolset using StreamableHttpServerParameters. Pass your Vinkius URL, then hand the toolset to your LlmAgent.
Yes. The agent pulls the event ID with list_events, then iterates through get_character to match appearances. Gemini's context window easily holds the entire metadata map.
You write the pipeline, but the server provides the raw data. The agent extracts JSON from get_comic and you can route that structured output straight into your Vertex AI or BigQuery setup.
Have the agent call get_character to get their ID. Then run list_comics filtered by that character ID, sorting the results by publication date.
Vinkius handles authentication via a single endpoint token and executes the request in an isolated environment. The server fetches the creator metadata, returns the JSON, and immediately destroys the sandbox. No logs remain.
