Multi-agent Mastodon monitoring

Assign a researcher agent to scan the public timeline with `get_public_timeline`. Then, have an analyst agent evaluate the results for relevance. They share context in memory. One agent finds the info, the other decides if it's worth a reblog using `reblog_status`.

Automated engagement crews

Build a crew where one agent manages your inbox using `get_notifications_v2` and another acts as a moderator. The moderator can use `dismiss_notification` or `favourite_status` based on sentiment. This keeps your social life organized. Your agents filter the noise so you only see what matters.

Scaling your Fedi footprint

Use a specialized agent to research trending content with `get_trending_links` and `get_trending_tags`. Your crew can then generate and post content via `post_status`. It operates as a team. You set the roles, and the agents handle the coordination of the tool calls.

Setup guide

Set up Mastodon MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Mastodon tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Mastodon Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Mastodon data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Mastodon access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Mastodon transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)
