Team-wide Megaventory access

Commit your configuration to the repository to give everyone on your team the same tools. Using `list_inventory_locations` ensures every developer works with the same site definitions. This standardization removes the headache of manual setup for each developer. Your team stays aligned on the same data sources from day one.

Agent-driven inventory analysis

Let your AI agent handle complex queries by calling `search_products` or `get_product_stock` directly. It identifies trends and anomalies by reading your actual warehouse data. This turns your editor into a powerful diagnostic tool. You can ask questions about stock health and get answers based on current records.

Simplified API interaction in VS Code

Access order lists like `list_sales_orders` without writing custom scripts. The MCP Server handles the communication so you can focus on building your application. This reduces the overhead of maintaining internal API wrappers. You get a consistent interface that works across your entire organization.

Setup guide

Set up Megaventory MCP in VS Code Copilot

Prerequisites

  • VS Code 1.99 or later with GitHub Copilot extension
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and run "MCP: Add Server". Select HTTP (Streamable) as the server type. VS Code will create .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace.

  2. 2

    Add the Megaventory MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into your .vscode/mcp.json. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Switch to Agent mode

Open Copilot Chat (Cmd+Shift+I / Ctrl+Shift+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode — they do not appear in Edit or Ask modes.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

In the Copilot Chat input, type # to list available tools. You should see the Megaventory tools listed. Try asking: "List my recent Megaventory transactions" and Copilot will invoke them automatically.

Common questions about Megaventory MCP in VS Code Copilot

Add the server configuration to a .vscode/mcp.json file in your repository. Every team member who pulls the code will have access to the same tools.
Absolutely. By committing the configuration, you ensure your entire team uses the same tools to interact with your inventory and order data.
The server respects your local authentication. Each developer provides their own credentials, keeping access controlled at the individual user level.
The server runs as a separate process and only fetches data when you trigger a tool. It is designed to be lightweight and non-intrusive.
