Multi-agent field coordination using CrewAI

`list_activities` gives your CrewAI supervisor agent a complete overview of all active projects in the workspace. The supervisor uses our MCP Server to coordinate specialized crew members to audit progress across different sites. When a bottleneck is found, a coordinator agent uses `post_message` to update the team on-site. This keeps field workers informed without requiring project managers to manually copy status reports between systems.

Autonomous material and labor auditing

`log_materials` allows your logistics agent to monitor resource consumption on active sites. A separate auditor agent runs `get_accounting_data` to compare material costs against the project's original financial plan. If the team logs too many hours, the auditor agent invokes `log_work_hours` to adjust the entry. The crew collaborates to pinpoint inefficiencies, ensuring that accounting data and field logs match up perfectly.

Automated site closeout with CrewAI

`list_checklists` lets your quality assurance agent verify that all site requirements are met. The agent inspects every checklist item across the active project. Once the QA agent confirms all tasks are complete, it passes the baton to the manager agent to run `update_activity_status`. The manager agent marks the project finished and uses `post_message` to notify the entire workspace.

Setup guide

Set up Mela MCP in CrewAI

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • crewai package (pip install crewai)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install CrewAI

    Run pip install crewai to install the framework. MCP support is built-in via the mcps parameter.

  2. 2

    Add the MCP URL to your agent

    Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the mcps list. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically.

  3. 3

    Kick off your crew

    Create a Crew with your agent and tasks. Call crew.kickoff() — the agent will automatically invoke Mela tools as needed.

crew.py
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew

agent = Agent(
    role="Mela Analyst",
    goal="Access and analyze Mela data via MCP.",
    backstory="Expert analyst with direct Mela access.",
    mcps=[
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ],
)

task = Task(
    description="List recent Mela transactions",
    agent=agent,
    expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)

crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result)

Common questions about Mela MCP in CrewAI

Pass the Vinkius Mela HTTP URL directly into the `mcps` list when defining your CrewAI agents. The framework automatically discovers tools like `list_activities` and makes them available to the crew.
Yes, you can use `MCPServerHTTP` from the `crewai.mcp` package along with a `tool_filter`. This restricts your logistics agent to `log_materials` while keeping financial tools locked down.
Agents share memory and context during execution. For example, a researcher agent calls `get_activity` and shares the details with a writer agent, who then uses `post_message` to draft the daily site report.
Yes. You can set up a hierarchical crew where a manager agent reviews checklist progress via `list_checklists` and delegates specific logging tasks to subordinate agents.
The crew accesses member details using `list_users` through our secure MCP sandboxes. Your team's names, emails, and workspace identities are never stored or exposed to public LLM APIs during agent execution.
