Sequence Mastra AI Workflows

The `create_project` tool establishes a new static container in a Motion workspace. Mastra AI takes that new project ID from the MCP Server and immediately passes it to a conditional branch that generates the required initial tasks. If the project creation succeeds, the workflow loops through `create_task` to populate it. If a task fails to schedule due to API limits, Mastra's exponential backoff retries the tool call automatically.

Conditional Task Management

The `list_tasks` tool pulls everything in a workspace based on current lifecycle status. You build a workflow that checks for stuck tasks and evaluates whether they need intervention. When the agent finds a stalled item, it triggers `move_task` to assign a different workspace target, or `update_task` to change its configuration parameters. The workflow handles the routing without human input via the MCP protocol.

Safe Calendar Mutations

The `delete_task` tool permanently destroys a task and strips its associated calendar blocks. Because this is destructive, you can wrap the tool in Mastra's `requireToolApproval` flag. A human reviews the action before the schedule changes. Once approved, the agent runs `get_schedule` to verify the AI-optimized timeline reflects the newly freed capacity.

Setup guide

Set up Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) MCP in Mastra AI

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+ and a TypeScript project
  • @mastra/mcp + @mastra/core packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run npm install @mastra/mcp @mastra/core plus your preferred model provider (e.g. @ai-sdk/openai).

  2. 2

    Configure the MCPClient

    Create an MCPClient with your Vinkius endpoint as a URL object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Discover and inject tools

    Call mcpClient.listTools() and spread the result into your agent's tools object. All Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) tools become native Mastra tools.

  4. 4

    Run with any model

    Swap openai("gpt-4o") for any AI SDK-compatible provider. Call agent.generate() and the agent routes tool calls through MCP automatically.

agent.ts
import { MCPClient } from "@mastra/mcp";
import { Agent } from "@mastra/core/agent";
import { openai } from "@ai-sdk/openai";

const mcpClient = new MCPClient({
  id: "motion-ai-calendar-task-management-mcp-client",
  servers: {
    "motion-ai-calendar-task-management-mcp": {
      url: new URL(
        "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
      ),
    },
  },
});

const agent = new Agent({
  name: "Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) Agent",
  model: openai("gpt-4o"),
  instructions: "You have access to Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) tools.",
  tools: {
    ...(await mcpClient.listTools()),
  },
});

const result = await agent.generate(
  "List recent Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) transactions"
);
console.log(result.text);

Common questions about Motion (AI Calendar & Task Management) MCP in Mastra AI

Install `@mastra/mcp@latest`. Initialize an `MCPClient` with your Vinkius URL, then spread `mcpClient.listTools()` directly into your agent's tool array.
Mastra handles this natively. If an agent calls `create_task` and hits a temporary timeout, the framework applies exponential backoff and retries the tool automatically.
Yes. Set `requireToolApproval: true` on the `delete_task` tool. The workflow pauses, waits for a human to confirm the deletion, and then proceeds.
You just pass the URL. Mastra negotiates whether to use Server-Sent Events or Streamable HTTP for the MCP Server connection behind the scenes.
The server touches precise timeline blocks, task parameters, and project metadata. Every execution runs in an ephemeral, isolated environment that destroys its memory state the moment the workflow completes.
