Query the MCP Server headless

The `predict_nationality` tool accepts a text string and returns a JSON array of probabilistic country matches. You trigger it straight from your command line, letting your AI client hit the Nationalize.io endpoint without opening a browser. This works perfectly in automated environments. You can pipe a text file full of surnames into the agent, and it will loop through the tool to generate a mapped output file in seconds.

Automate data enrichment

Backend developers use this to backfill missing regional data in their databases. You write a short bash script, and the agent calls `predict_nationality` for every null country field it finds. The tool returns the ISO country code with the highest probability. Your script then updates the database records automatically, turning a tedious manual task into a fast background job.

Build CI/CD localization checks

You can integrate name-based region checks into your deployment pipelines. If a pull request adds new hardcoded user profiles, the agent verifies their assigned regions against the API probabilities. The entire process runs headlessly through your MCP Server. If the tool flags a mismatch between a surname and its assigned country code, the pipeline throws a warning before the code ever merges.

Common questions about Nationalize MCP in Claude Code

Run the `claude mcp add` command in your terminal. Make sure you pass the `--transport http` flag before specifying the server name and URL.
Yes. You can ask the agent to fetch the raw JSON from the endpoint and pipe it directly into jq or save it to a local log file.
The accuracy drops significantly when you feed it first names or full names. Always parse your inputs to extract the last name before calling the tool.
It runs anywhere your terminal does. You just need an active MCP connection to execute the same commands in a container, an SSH session, or a GitHub Action.
The system transmits only the specific text variables passed to the command. Your underlying databases and shell history remain entirely isolated from the external API.
