Schedule Task Creation in Todoist

You can pipe the output of a script directly into `create_task` to automate task entry. This is ideal for cron jobs or CI/CD pipelines that need to record progress. Run it headless: set up a shell script that calls the tool, and your tasks get created without needing a GUI.

Batch Task Reporting from Todoist

Need a quick report of all active items? Execute `list_tasks` via the terminal. You can filter by project ID in the command line, getting only the data you need for your script's input. This makes it perfect for generating audit logs or nightly status reports from deep within the shell.

Audit Project Structure in Todoist

Use `list_projects` first to get a list of all available containers. Then, chain that output into `list_sections` to map out the full project hierarchy via the command line. It lets you script complex directory listings and structural checks across your entire todo environment.

Common questions about Todoist MCP in Claude Code

Run `list_tasks` directly from the terminal. You can pipe that output into other scripts for immediate processing, making it part of your existing shell workflow.
Absolutely. Use `create_task` within a script. By running this command in a CI/CD pipeline, you ensure that every build or deployment automatically records the required tasks.
You run `list_tasks` and look for the status indicators. If a task is done, you can then use `complete_task` in a subsequent command to mark it as finished.
To see all tags available for scripting purposes, run the `list_labels` tool. The output provides a clean, machine-readable list of every user-defined label.
This MCP Server handles task content and project IDs. When using it in scripts, you're dealing exclusively with structured identifiers passed through standard output streams.
