Develop File Processing Logic

When you're mid-code, call `create_assembly` to generate a pipeline definition and get live data back. This lets the AI inject working code that executes file processing tasks like video encoding. If the job fails or needs stopping, use `cancel_assembly`. You can write the cleanup logic immediately after, knowing exactly what state the assembly was in.

Handle Reusable Workflows

Write a function that generates new processing templates using `create_processing_template`. This saves the JSON steps so you don't have to copy-paste logic everywhere. You'll need to reference the template ID later. If you write a bad test and need to scrap it, call `delete_template` to permanently remove that definition.

Read Assembly History

To debug or verify results, run `list_assemblies`. This dumps the history of recent Transloadit jobs in your project. You can then feed a specific assembly ID into `get_assembly_details` to get full status and outcomes. Need to re-run something for testing? Use `replay_assembly` right in your test file.

Setup guide

Set up Transloadit MCP in Cursor

Prerequisites

  • Cursor installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP Settings

Go to Cursor Settings → MCP or open the Command Palette (Cmd+Shift+P / Ctrl+Shift+P) and search for "MCP: Add Server".

  2. 2

    Add the Transloadit MCP

Cursor will create or open .cursor/mcp.json in your project root. Paste the JSON snippet on the right. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Enable Agent mode

Open Composer (Cmd+I / Ctrl+I) and switch to Agent mode using the dropdown at the top. MCP tools are only available in Agent mode.

  4. 4

    Verify the connection

Ask Cursor something like "List my recent Transloadit transactions." If the MCP tools are loaded correctly, Cursor will call the Transloadit tools automatically. You can also check Settings → MCP for a green status indicator.

Common questions about Transloadit MCP in Cursor

You invoke `get_billing_usage`, passing the desired month as YYYY-MM. The API response gives you file processing costs and consumption, which your code can then process immediately.
The MCP Server offers functions to manage assemblies (`create_assembly`, `cancel_assembly`), templates, billing, and listing recent activity. You'll have everything you need in one place.
Yes, simply call `list_templates`. This gives your code a comprehensive array of every saved processing template ID and name you've created.
You use `get_template_details` to fetch the stored configuration of a specific processing template. This lets you see exactly what steps were defined years ago.
This server manages metadata regarding media pipelines, including assembly status records, usage metrics, template JSON definitions, and billing consumption data. It's all structured for your code.
