UniProt Search in Cursor
Need to reference a protein's function while coding? You can use `search_uniprot` to get data on specific proteins like 'BRCA1.' The AI agent calls this tool, and the resulting name, gene, organism, and sequence are injected directly into your editor context. This means you don't have to switch tabs or copy-paste; the live API response becomes part of the code block you're writing.
Fetch Full Protein Details in Cursor
When you hit a roadblock and need comprehensive data for a UniProt accession ID, `get_uniprot_protein` pulls it right into your workspace. The agent uses this live context to write the correct function signature or validation logic. It’s way better than using mock stubs because the code you generate is based on real-world biological data.
Gene Mapping with MCP Server in Cursor
If your task involves mapping multiple isoforms, `search_uniprot_gene` handles it. You give it a gene name, and the AI retrieves all associated protein isoforms and their functional annotations. This allows you to write complex data parsing functions that account for every potential variation without having to manually check external sources.
