Connect Upstash Redis MCP to Windsurf
Create your Vinkius account to connect Upstash Redis to Windsurf and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Accessing and Managing Keys via MCP Server
The `get` tool lets your AI client fetch the string value for any given key. If you need to know more than just the data, use `get_key_info`. This tells you if the key has an expiration date (TTL) and what kind of data it holds. Cascade can automatically check connectivity first with `ping` before attempting data manipulation. You'll also manage expirations using `set`, which allows you to assign a time limit in seconds.
Counting Transactions for Windsurf
When tracking activity, the `increment` tool handles numeric counters. It increases or decreases the count at a key; just remember that negative numbers make it decrement instead. This is useful when your agent needs to calculate things like daily user views. You can also manage these counts by deleting old keys using `delete`, which accepts a comma-separated list of keys.
Discovering Data Structures with the MCP Server
Don't rely solely on knowing your key names. The `list_keys` tool scans for keys that match a specific pattern, helping you map out your data structure. Remember to keep patterns narrow; don't run it against huge databases using just an asterisk (`*`). Need to clean up old records? Use the `delete` function to remove one or more keys at once by listing them with commas.
