Grounded Chat Completions

Tell Cline to answer questions based on your project data. The `execute_rag_chat` tool accepts corpus keys and a user query, returning an AI summary with specific citations. This stops the agent from hallucinating; it forces it to cite concrete evidence found within your indexed datasets.

Running Semantic Searches

Need background data for a component? Use `perform_semantic_search`. You provide one or more corpus keys and query text, executing a search across the specified datasets. Cline runs this search result through its logic to help write code that relies on real-time project knowledge.

Inventorying Code Data

Before writing anything, check what data exists. `list_corpus_documents` lets you see all indexed documents inside a corpus. Meanwhile, `get_corpus_details` retrieves the full metadata and configuration for any given source. This visibility is critical when Cline needs to ensure its generated files match existing project standards.

Common questions about Vectara MCP in Cline

Cline calls the MCP Server tools directly during task execution. It uses functions like `perform_semantic_search` to gather necessary data before generating code components or writing tests.
Vectara manages indexed documents and corpus metadata, which are treated as textual sources. This means the scope is confined to structured text datasets within your repositories.
Yes, you can run `list_corpora` to get a full list of every available dataset. This helps Cline determine which source keys it needs to include in its multi-step actions.
The tool `delete_corpus_document` allows permanent removal of documents from a corpus. Use this with extreme caution, as losing indexed data is irreversible.
It touches textual metadata and the content of indexed documents. The operations are focused on searching and retrieving structured information from defined corpora.
