Automate media uploads for transcription.

Tell Cascade to analyze a video file. It starts by calling `create_job`, handling the upload of the media file and starting the processing queue. Cascade watches this process run, meaning you don't have to manually check status updates or wait around for the job to finish.

Track transcription jobs without manual input.

You can set a goal like 'Wait until the transcript is ready.' Cascade then uses `get_job` repeatedly. It checks the progress of your existing transcription job every few seconds. This prevents you from having to write multiple steps, letting Cascade manage the waiting period autonomously.

Download transcripts in any needed format.

Once the status is 'Complete,' Windsurf can grab the final text using `get_transcript`. This tool downloads the completed transcript directly to your workspace. This means you get the data instantly, ready for other actions within the MCP Server context.

Setup guide

Set up Verbit MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Verbit MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Verbit payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Verbit tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Verbit MCP in Windsurf

Verbit exposes three tools that let your AI client manage media processing. You simply tell Cascade to 'Transcribe this file,' and it handles the whole sequence through the MCP Server.
The Verbit MCP Server only touches Media/Transcription Data. All data is handled by Vinkius's zero-trust sandbox, ensuring your inputs and outputs stay contained.
Absolutely. Because it’s an open standard, any agent can connect to the Verbit MCP Server. Cascade handles complex chains of actions involving multiple tools.
We focus on reliable automation within your IDE environment. The speed depends on the media file size, but the ability to track progress automatically is a major advantage of this specific MCP Server.
Yes. While it provides text transcripts, the `get_transcript` tool supports multiple formats for the completed data set. Check the documentation to see all available output types.
