Multi-Step Reasoning with the MCP Server

The `list_vercel_projects` tool lets your agent find all available projects. From there, you can decide to run `get_vercel_project_details` on a specific target. This builds a verifiable chain of actions: first listing everything, then drilling down for the necessary data. This process is perfect for building complex workflows where the output of one step feeds directly into the next tool call. You’re not just calling tools; you're letting your agent reason through the entire deployment lifecycle.

Managing Vercel Deployments in Chains

Need to check a status? Use `list_vercel_deployments` to grab recent build history. Once you see an ID, you can immediately run `get_vercel_deployment_info` for specifics. It's direct: list the IDs, then fetch details for the one that matters. This ability allows your agent to validate deployments and surface specific information without needing a human to manually check each build status first.

Project Setup and Variable Handling

When you need project context, start by calling `get_vercel_project_details`. This gives the core info on an application. After that, use `list_vercel_project_env_vars` to see what environment variables are set. Your agent can then decide if it needs to execute a specific action, like using `add_vercel_environment_variable`, based on the current list of vars.

Setup guide

Set up Vercel MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes Vercel tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "vercel-extended-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent Vercel transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about Vercel MCP in LangChain

You use the `get_vercel_deployment_info` tool. Just feed it a specific deployment ID, and your agent gets all the details right away. It's fast and tells you exactly what stage that build is in.
Yep. The `list_vercel_teams` tool lets your agent see all the Vercel teams you have access to. This helps it figure out which scope it needs to operate within for subsequent actions.
The `add_vercel_environment_variable` tool handles that. You just give the agent the project ID, the key, and the value it needs to set. It runs it directly against Vercel.
Absolutely. The `list_vercel_account_domains` tool is there for that. It shows every account domain associated with your Vercel setup, letting you know what's connected.
This server handles project metadata, including environment variables, deployment details, and user profile information. It never touches source code or raw customer content.
