Discover Wrike organizational structure

Need to know where everything lives before you start working? You can list all major containers using `list_wrike_spaces` and get a breakdown of your team's file organization with `list_wrike_folders`. This lets the agent map out every project area in Wrike. It handles both top-level spaces and nested folders. The agent finds the correct ID for any project you need to target, giving you a clear view of the entire account structure.

Get detailed task status

When you need deep context on a single item, use `get_task_details`. This pulls every piece of information attached to one specific Wrike task. You won't miss anything—due dates, assignees, comments, everything. Want a list instead? The `list_wrike_tasks` tool lets you scope results by passing in a folder ID. It gives you bulk data that you can then feed into other parts of your production agent system.

Manage Wrike contacts and projects

The agent doesn't just track work; it tracks who's working on it. `list_wrike_contacts` pulls every user in the workspace, which is vital for routing tasks correctly. You can also list all active initiatives using `list_wrike_projects`. If you need to cross-reference people with specific projects, having these two lists available ensures your agent always has the right data points to work with.

Setup guide

Set up Wrike MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • openai-agents package (pip install openai-agents)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install the SDK

    Run pip install openai-agents to install the OpenAI Agents SDK. The MCP integration is built-in — no extra dependencies needed.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use MCPServerSse with your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. The SDK auto-discovers all Wrike tools at runtime.

  3. 3

    Create your Agent

    Pass the MCP to Agent(mcp_servers=[server]). The agent receives Wrike tools as native definitions — JSON schemas resolve automatically.

  4. 4

    Run the agent

    Call Runner.run(agent, prompt) to execute. The agent invokes the appropriate Wrike tools and returns structured results. Copy the full example on the right to get started.

agent.py
import asyncio
from agents import Agent, Runner
from agents.mcp import MCPServerSse

async def main():
    async with MCPServerSse(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    ) as server:
        agent = Agent(
            name="Wrike Agent",
            instructions="You have access to Wrike tools.",
            mcp_servers=[server],
        )
        result = await Runner.run(agent, "List recent transactions")
        print(result.final_output)

asyncio.run(main())

Common questions about Wrike MCP in OpenAI Agents SDK

Your agent uses the MCP Server to interact directly with Wrike's API. Instead of writing code for every action, you just tell your AI client what outcome you want (e.g., 'Find all tasks in Q3'). The guardrails handle the execution using the `wrike-mcp` tools.
You can use `list_wrike_projects` to get a list of all active projects. Then, your agent can pick the right one and pass it to other tools for details. The whole process is managed by the secure environment of the MCP Server.
Yes. Since this is a production-grade setup, the agent can retrieve current details using `get_task_details`. This means you're always working with the most up-to-date task information available in your Wrike account.
Absolutely. The `list_wrike_tasks` tool lets you optionally provide a folder ID. This narrows the results down so your agent only checks the exact area of Wrike you care about.
This server interacts with structured user and task metadata, including project names, folder IDs, contact usernames, and specific task details.
