Using MCP Server with VS Code Copilot
The `trigger_zapier_webhook` tool sends a defined JSON payload to Zapier's Catch Hook. Team members can use this tool through the Chat panel, letting the AI trigger external workflows automatically. This means your team doesn't have to manually copy data and paste it into another system; Copilot handles the connection.
Triggering Zaps via Codebase Tools
When you use `trigger_zapier_webhook`, you provide the JSON payload, which is then sent to initiate an automation Zap. This keeps your core code clean while letting you leverage external services. It's a simple way for Copilot Chat to act as the bridge between your local project and outside systems.
Handling JSON Payloads in VS Code
The tool expects the payload as a valid JSON string. You just tell Copilot what data structure you need, and it handles packaging that information for the webhook trigger. This mechanism lets your entire engineering team use external APIs without needing to write dedicated network client code.
