  What years of school data are available?

  The census data covers school years from 2020 through 2027.

  How do I find the correct name for a school?

  You should use the school_lookup or list_schools capabilities first. Names are stored in uppercase with a school code in parentheses.

  Can I find which school a specific street belongs to?

  Yes, you can use list_school_sectors to see the zones and assigned schools for specific areas.

  Is this data official?

  Yes, the data comes directly from the Paris open-data platform (opendata.paris.fr).

  What is the difference between Elémentaire and Polyvalent?

  These are the two school types stored in the census data, which you can filter for using list_schools.

  Do I need an API key?

  No. opendata.paris.fr serves all city datasets anonymously over its Opendatasoft REST API. This MCP defines no credentials and needs nothing configured.

  What is a catchment sector?

  A secteur scolaire is a neighborhood group that the city assigns to up to four elementary schools (the lib_etab_1..4 columns). Children in the sector's zone are enrolled in those schools. find_school_sectors answers "which sectors send children to school X".

  Why do I sometimes get 0 rows from school_lookup?

  Names are stored UPPERCASE with the school code in parentheses and an ELEM/POLY suffix ("LITTRE (6) ELEM"). The match is exact. run list_schools first to discover the stored form. School years rotate, so a school may only appear in the years it was open.

  Which school years are covered?

  Both datasets span 2020-2021 through 2026-2027; the census also holds a few rows with a null year. The newest year (2026-2027) is the current assignment calendar.
