Key Capabilities

Fast task dispatch in Windsurf

Cascade uses `create_task` to instantly post work orders to Sally frontline staff. You don't have to prompt every step. Give Windsurf a goal like "assign the safety inspection to shift B" and it figures out how to construct the Sally payload, apply labels, and set the right priority from P1 to P4. If a Sally shift supervisor flags an issue, Cascade tracks down the specific card using `get_task`. It reads the updates, updates the status using `update_task`, and logs a follow-up with `add_comment` so the Windsurf user can keep the mobile team updated immediately.

Hands-off timesheet audits via Windsurf MCP Server

The `get_timesheet_report` tool pulls raw Sally hours directly into your Windsurf workspace. Cascade analyzes these reports autonomously to spot missing clock-ins or overtime spikes without you clicking through web consoles. When it finds an anomaly, Cascade doesn't stop there. It reads the Sally project metadata via `get_project` and alerts the supervisor by appending a comment to their active ticket. This keeps your billing accurate while you stay in your Windsurf editor.

Visualizing project boards inside Cascade with the MCP Server

The `get_board` tool fetches the current Sally Kanban board layout for the deskless crew. Cascade parses this data to build a mental map of what your field technicians are actually doing right now. It compares this Sally board against your local codebase milestones in Windsurf. If the field work lags behind your release branch, Cascade uses `list_tasks` to identify the bottleneck and outputs a clear summary of what needs to change.

Setup guide

Set up Sally MCP in Windsurf

Prerequisites

  • Windsurf IDE installed (macOS, Windows, or Linux)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Open MCP configuration

Click the Cascade assistant icon in the sidebar, then click the hammer icon (🔨) at the top of the panel. Select "Configure" to open ~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json.

  2. 2

    Add the Sally MCP

Paste the JSON snippet shown on the right into the mcpServers object. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your endpoint token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Refresh MCPs

Go back to the hammer icon (🔨) in Cascade and click "Refresh". Windsurf will detect the new server. No full restart is needed — the connection is hot-reloaded.

  4. 4

    Verify in Cascade

Start a new Cascade conversation and ask something like "Show my Sally payment history." If connected, Cascade will call the Sally tools directly. You will see a green dot next to the server name in the MCP panel.

Common questions about Sally MCP in Windsurf

Open your `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json` file and add the Sally configuration under the `mcpServers` key. Once you hit refresh in the Cascade panel, Windsurf auto-discovers all 12 Sally tools, including `list_projects` and `create_task`.
Yes. When you tell Cascade to update a frontline ticket, it chains `get_task` to read the current state and then executes `update_task` with the new fields. You do not need to guide Windsurf through each step.
Windsurf executes `get_timesheet_report` to fetch the raw workspace hours from Sally. Cascade parses this text payload directly in your chat window to find discrepancies without opening a browser.
Cascade runs `check_sally_health` to verify that the communication server is responding. If the connection drops, Windsurf warns you in the terminal before running any Sally project tools.
Your frontline timesheets, tasks, and comments run through the Vinkius V8 Isolate Sandbox. This ensures Windsurf only accesses the specific Sally data payloads requested during a tool call, keeping your employee operational records completely isolated and ephemeral.
