Key Capabilities
Define and assign team roles.
Because the config is committed to the repo, every developer uses the same access rules. Use `create_or_update_role` to define a new role globally for everyone. Then, use `assign_role_to_user` to apply that definition instantly when onboarding a new team member. Need to audit current permissions? Running `list_roles` provides the canonical list of all roles available across every project branch.
Manage user lifecycles consistently.
Onboarding or offboarding doesn't require a manual checklist. Your Copilot agent can run `signup_user` and then, when the employee leaves, it runs `remove_session` followed by `delete_user_metadata`. This ensures data cleanup is consistent across the whole team. If a user changes their primary email or profile details, calling `update_user_metadata` keeps your shared codebase accurate with minimal friction.
Inspect and link user accounts.
When integrating third-party logins, you need to know if the user already exists. Use `get_user` to check for existing records by ID. If they are new, use `link_accounts` to tie their external identity into your core system's user profile. Developers can also run `list_user_roles` in Copilot Chat to quickly confirm if a specific user has the necessary permissions before committing code that relies on those rights.
