Key Capabilities

LangChain MCP Server Routing

Your LangChain agent hits `check_timeero_status` first to confirm API health before building the daily dispatch chain. From there, it pulls active sites using `list_timeero_jobs` and matches them against the crew's shifts via `list_timeero_schedules`. When a field tech asks for their specific site info, the agent fetches `get_timeero_job` and pairs it with `get_timeero_schedule`. You get a clean pipeline where the output of the schedule query feeds directly into the job context.

Multi-Step Timesheet Pipelines

Timeero tracks GPS-verified clock-ins, and your ReAct agent processes them. It grabs raw logs via `list_timeero_timesheets` and maps them against `list_timeero_tasks` to verify what work actually happened on site. If a manager needs a granular breakdown for payroll, the agent runs `get_timeero_timesheet` to pull exact mileage and timestamps. It then executes `get_timeero_task` to append the specific labor codes required for accounting.

Field Crew Context

LangChain pulls your roster through `list_timeero_users`. This lets your chain map system IDs to actual human names before sending automated dispatch alerts. For a deep dive on an individual technician's permissions or profile, the agent hits `get_timeero_user`. That data flows straight into your LangSmith traces, keeping your debugging logs tied to real field events.

Setup guide

Set up Timeero MCP in LangChain

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • langchain-mcp-adapters + langgraph packages
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install langchain-mcp-adapters langgraph langchain-openai. The MCP adapters package converts MCP tools into native LangChain BaseTool objects.

  2. 2

    Connect via HTTP transport

    Use MultiServerMCPClient with "transport": "http" pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create a ReAct agent

    Pass the discovered tools to create_react_agent() from LangGraph. The agent automatically routes Timeero tool calls through the MCP protocol.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Swap ChatOpenAI for ChatAnthropic, ChatGoogleGenerativeAI, or any LangChain-compatible model. The MCP tools work identically across all providers.

agent.py
from langchain_mcp_adapters.client import MultiServerMCPClient
from langgraph.prebuilt import create_react_agent
from langchain_openai import ChatOpenAI

async with MultiServerMCPClient({
    "timeero-mcp": {
        "transport": "http",
        "url": "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp",
    }
}) as client:
    tools = client.get_tools()

    agent = create_react_agent(
        ChatOpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
        tools,
    )
    result = await agent.ainvoke({
        "messages": "List recent Timeero transactions"
    })
    print(result["messages"][-1].content)

Common questions about Timeero MCP in LangChain

Install the langchain-mcp-adapters package. Initialize MultiServerMCPClient with your HTTP transport URL and pass the loaded tools to your agent.
Yes. Your agent decides the query parameters dynamically. It reads the prompt, constructs the argument, and fetches only the relevant shifts.
Every tool call logs automatically. You see the exact input parameters sent to the API and the raw JSON returned.
The ReAct agent reads the response metadata. If it sees a next page token, it loops the tool call until it gathers the full list.
The MCP server processes exact latitude and longitude coordinates from field clock-ins. That telemetry lives entirely in memory during the execution chain and drops the moment your session ends, keeping employee tracking strictly ephemeral.
