Key Capabilities

LlamaIndex MCP Server Ingestion

The integration starts by verifying connectivity via `check_timeero_status`. Once cleared, your application ingests the entire roster using `list_timeero_users` to build a baseline vector index of your workforce. When a query demands specifics on a single technician, the agent calls `get_timeero_user`. It embeds that profile data straight into your searchable RAG knowledge base.

Semantic Search for Dispatches

Field operations generate massive amounts of scheduling data. Your agent pulls the active board with `list_timeero_jobs` and cross-references the planned shifts using `list_timeero_schedules`. Instead of manual database lookups, users just ask questions. The system triggers `get_timeero_job` and `get_timeero_schedule` to fetch the exact site and shift parameters, turning raw API responses into grounded context for the LLM.

RAG for Payroll Audits

Timeero logs every move. By running `list_timeero_timesheets` alongside `list_timeero_tasks`, your application indexes the actual hours worked against the available labor codes. When a mileage discrepancy pops up, the query engine isolates the event with `get_timeero_timesheet` and details the specific work done via `get_timeero_task`. You get an audit trail built on hard data, not hallucinations.

Setup guide

Set up Timeero MCP in LlamaIndex

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • llama-index-tools-mcp package
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install dependencies

    Run pip install llama-index-tools-mcp llama-index-llms-openai. The MCP tools package provides BasicMCPClient and McpToolSpec.

  2. 2

    Connect with BasicMCPClient

    Point BasicMCPClient to your Vinkius endpoint URL. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. Supports SSE and Streamable HTTP transports.

  3. 3

    Convert to LlamaIndex tools

    Call mcp_tool_spec.to_tool_list_async() to convert all Timeero MCP tools into native FunctionTool objects that any LlamaIndex agent can use.

  4. 4

    Run with any LLM

    Create a FunctionAgent with the tools and your preferred LLM. Swap OpenAI for Anthropic, Gemini, or any LlamaIndex-supported provider.

agent.py
from llama_index.tools.mcp import BasicMCPClient, McpToolSpec
from llama_index.core.agent.workflow import FunctionAgent
from llama_index.llms.openai import OpenAI

# Connect to the MCP
mcp_client = BasicMCPClient(
    "https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
)
mcp_tool_spec = McpToolSpec(client=mcp_client)

# Convert MCP tools to LlamaIndex tools
tools = await mcp_tool_spec.to_tool_list_async()

# Create and run the agent
agent = FunctionAgent(
    tools=tools,
    llm=OpenAI(model="gpt-4o"),
    system_prompt="You have access to Timeero tools.",
)
response = await agent.run("List recent Timeero data")

Common questions about Timeero MCP in LlamaIndex

Install llama-index-tools-mcp and set up the BasicMCPClient. Wrap it in McpToolSpec and pass it to your function agent.
No. The MCP server requires an active network connection to hit the endpoints. You can index previous responses, but live queries need internet.
Yes. The agent pulls the live JSON, and your application embeds it. You can search your field data exactly like you search a PDF.
Use the allowed tools filter during initialization. You control exactly which read operations the agent has access to.
The system retrieves raw shift durations and mileage totals. Because it runs in a zero-trust MCP sandbox, those payroll metrics are embedded directly into your private vector store without ever touching a third-party logging server.
