Query 4D databases via the Claude Code CLI

`list_entities` queries your database tables using terminal commands. This tool lets you run ORDA-style lookups with filters and ordering without leaving your shell. You can pipe this output directly into other CLI tools or scripts. It makes automation easy for SREs and backend developers who manage data pipelines.

Inspect 4D database catalogs from your terminal

`get_catalog` pulls your entire database structure into your terminal session. This tool helps you quickly check table definitions and field types during shell tasks. You don't need a heavy GUI to inspect your database anymore. Run a quick terminal command to let Claude Code map out the schema for your scripts.

Manage 4D table records using this MCP Server

`create_entity` and `update_entity` modify your database records directly from the command line. These tools accept JSON payloads to write or update entities instantly. You can automate database seeding or quick updates inside your CI/CD pipelines. Claude Code formats the payloads and executes the operations in headless environments.

Common questions about 4D MCP in Claude Code

Run `claude mcp add --transport http 4d-mcp -- ` in your terminal. This command updates your local file with the MCP configuration. Run `claude mcp list` to verify the connection is active.
Yes, Claude Code uses `create_entity` and `update_entity` to modify records programmatically. You can build terminal scripts that pipe JSON data directly into your tables, making data migrations simple.
The CLI tool uses `list_entities` to search tables using ORDA-style filters. It prints the results directly to your terminal, allowing you to filter and sort datasets on the fly.
Claude Code calls `get_catalog` to fetch your database definitions. This lets the command-line agent verify table layouts and field structures before executing any data operations.
Your database access credentials and raw records are protected by Vinkius's secure, isolated runtime. All operations run through this MCP integration inside encrypted HTTP tunnels, ensuring your database credentials and records never touch local storage.
