Ground Gemini reasoning in live weather data

Gemini models have massive context windows, but they still need real data to make sense of logistics. This MCP Server lets your agent pull active weather warnings using `get_alerts` directly into its prompt context. Instead of guessing, your agent correlates these alerts with your BigQuery shipping tables. It uses `get_observations` to see if a storm is actually hitting a specific warehouse right now, making enterprise automation practical.

Batch geographical lookups inside Google ADK

Resolving coordinates for thousands of shipping hubs is slow if you do them one by one. Use the `get_batch` tool to bundle up to 31 location requests into a single execution block. Your agent uses `get_places` to find the closest airport or weather station, then feeds those IDs into the batch call. This keeps your Google Cloud infrastructure runs highly efficient.

Precision forecasting on a managed MCP Server

Planning agricultural supply chains requires both historical context and immediate forecasts. The `get_conditions` tool gives your agent access to data from 2004 up to 15 days in the future, including minutely rain forecasts. Combined with `get_forecasts`, your Gemini agent can analyze long-term trends alongside immediate localized threats. It is a direct line to raw meteorological data without leaving your Google Cloud ecosystem.

Setup guide

Set up AerisWeather MCP in Google ADK

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ installed
  • google-adk package (pip install google-adk)
  • Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
  1. 1

    Install Google ADK

    Run pip install google-adk to install the Agent Development Kit. MCP support is included via the McpToolset class.

  2. 2

    Connect via SSE transport

    Use McpToolset.from_server() with SseServerParams pointing to your Vinkius endpoint. Replace [YOUR_TOKEN_HERE] with your token from cloud.vinkius.com.

  3. 3

    Create an LlmAgent

    Pass the returned mcp_tools list directly to LlmAgent(tools=mcp_tools). The ADK maps each MCP tool to a native Gemini function call — no manual schema definitions required.

  4. 4

    Run with any Gemini model

    The agent works with any Gemini model (gemini-2.0-flash, gemini-2.5-pro, etc.). Copy the full example on the right to get started with AerisWeather tools in your ADK agent.

agent.py
from google.adk.agents import LlmAgent
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_toolset import McpToolset
from google.adk.tools.mcp_tool.mcp_session_manager import SseServerParams

# Connect to the MCP via SSE
mcp_tools, exit_stack = await McpToolset.from_server(
    connection_params=SseServerParams(
        url="https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
    )
)

# Create your agent with auto-discovered tools
agent = LlmAgent(
    name="AerisWeather_agent",
    model="gemini-2.0-flash",
    instruction="You have access to AerisWeather tools via MCP.",
    tools=mcp_tools,
)

Common questions about AerisWeather MCP in Google ADK

Run pip install google-adk, then import `McpToolset` and point it to your Vinkius HTTP URL. Pass that toolset object into your `LlmAgent` tools array to let Gemini discover the tools.
Yes. You can use the optional tool names filter in the `McpToolset` configuration. This lets you restrict access to only `get_alerts` or `get_forecasts` if you want to keep the agent focused.
Because Gemini handles over a million tokens, you can dump years of historical data from `get_conditions` into the context. The agent can then find complex patterns across multiple locations without running out of memory.
Absolutely. Your agent can read location coordinates from a BigQuery database, pass them to `get_places` or `get_observations`, and then write the weather status back to your database.
Your latitude, longitude, and zip codes are transmitted securely via HTTPS through Vinkius to AerisWeather. No coordinates or location profiles are written to persistent disks during transit.
