How to Use the Bandcamp MCP in CrewAI
Deploy autonomous agent crews to monitor, research, and report on new music using CrewAI and Bandcamp.
Works with every AI agent you already use
…and any MCP-compatible client
Connect Bandcamp MCP to CrewAI
Create your Vinkius account to connect Bandcamp to CrewAI and route execution through our secure gateway. The platform manages server hosting, runtime updates, and security layers. Configuration requires no manual server provisioning.
Assemble a Music Scout Crew
With CrewAI, you delegate tasks to a team of specialized agents. Create a 'Scout Agent' whose only job is to run `discover_music` and `get_new_releases` for a target genre. It finds new music and passes the album URLs to a dedicated 'Analyst Agent'. The Analyst Agent then takes over. Its job is to use `get_page_data` on each URL to pull tracklists, pricing, and artist info. Finally, it compiles a summary report. Each agent does one thing well.
Run Autonomous Genre Monitoring
Set up a crew to watch a genre for you. A 'Watcher Agent' can run on a schedule, calling `get_best_selling` every hour. It maintains a memory of the top 10 list. When it detects a new album has entered the chart, it triggers a 'Reporter Agent'. This second agent's task is to get the details using `get_page_data` and then format a message. It could post a summary to a Discord server or send an email, all without any human intervention. This MCP Server gives your crew the tools they need to act.
Delegate Research with CrewAI
Stop doing manual research. Give your crew a high-level goal like, 'Find me new ambient artists who have released music this month.' The 'Lead Agent' can start by using `search` to understand the genre, then task a 'Discovery Agent' to run `get_new_releases`. Once new releases are found, a 'Vetting Agent' can use `get_page_data` to check release dates and other details. The crew works together, passing context between agents to deliver a final, curated list. You just give the initial order.
Set up Bandcamp MCP in CrewAI
Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewaipackage (pip install crewai) - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install CrewAI
Run
pip install crewaito install the framework. MCP support is built-in via themcpsparameter. - 2
Add the MCP URL to your agent
Pass your Vinkius endpoint directly to the
mcpslist. Replace[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]with your token from cloud.vinkius.com. CrewAI handles tool discovery and caching automatically. - 3
Kick off your crew
Create a
Crewwith your agent and tasks. Callcrew.kickoff()— the agent will automatically invoke Bandcamp tools as needed.
from crewai import Agent, Task, Crew
agent = Agent(
role="Bandcamp Analyst",
goal="Access and analyze Bandcamp data via MCP.",
backstory="Expert analyst with direct Bandcamp access.",
mcps=[
"https://edge.vinkius.com/[YOUR_TOKEN_HERE]/mcp"
],
)
task = Task(
description="List recent Bandcamp transactions",
agent=agent,
expected_output="A summary of recent activity",
)
crew = Crew(agents=[agent], tasks=[task])
result = crew.kickoff()
print(result) Prerequisites
- Python 3.10+ installed
-
crewai+crewai-toolspackages - Active Vinkius subscription with a valid endpoint token
- 1
Install dependencies
Run
pip install crewai crewai-tools. TheMCPServerAdapterhandles lifecycle management and tool conversion. - 2
Connect with MCPServerAdapter
Use
MCPServerAdapteras a context manager withSseServerParameterspointing to your Vinkius endpoint. The adapter automatically manages connection lifecycle. - 3
Assign tools and run
Pass the returned
mcp_toolsto your agent'stoolsparameter. The adapter converts MCP tools to nativeBaseToolobjects compatible with all CrewAI agents.
